Island Brac, Croatia

Sumartin is the most eastern place on Brac. Sumartin is connected with mainland via ferry line that goes to Makarska. The place has largest number of ships on Brac, in proportion to the number of families.
It is the only shtokavian speaking settlement since it was founded by the emigrants from Bosnia, Herzegovina and Makarska interior during the Kandi war in 15th century. Due to the long time isolation with the Brac interior, they kept their language and customs.
